Scholes questions whether Slots may not be happy with Trent.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes Liverpool boss Arne Slot may not be a big fan of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds boss has made a perfect start to the new season since taking over from Jurgen Klopp in the summer, winning all three of his games without conceding a goal, including the latest 3-0 win at Manchester United.

Alexander-Arnold played a key role in that success, starting every game at right-back.

But he has yet to play a full game for Slots, playing 76 minutes against Ipswich, 71 minutes against Brentford and 75 minutes against Man Utd.

With the England star’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, his future is in doubt and Scholes spoke to Stick2Football, presented by UFABET Bet, and asked how Slot felt about one of his key players.

“He tried to play the long ball, which he obviously did brilliantly. He (Slot) was shaking his head all the time, turning around. I don’t think he (Slot) liked him (Trent).”

Jamie Carragher joked Scholes was “trying to get rid of him” – but he did admit Slot is not a fan of long balls.

Alexander-Arnold has often been criticised for his lapses in concentration defensively and with his technical ability, Gareth Southgate played him in midfield at the Euros.
