I’m often drawn to pretty things. Being the seasoned (?) sex toy reviewer that I am, I have learned that pretty products and high-end packaging do not always equal quality (I’m looking at you, SenseMotion shit). However, sometimes quality does come in nice packing. And sometimes it’s pretty. And those times, I am happy. And so is my vagina.
Enter Tantus, and their fabulous line of aluminum toys. They make my vagina happy. And they’re really fucking pretty.
Tantus is known for their 100% Ultra-Premium Silicone toys…which are generally pretty awesome. But the Alumina line is also pretty awesome, and I feel like it is often overlooked.
The toys in the Alumina line are all made of anodized aluminum. Anodized aluminum is the same stuff those carabiner keyrings are made of. Anodizing makes them, and the Alumina toys, resistant to corrosion. Hooray, right? I know.
Aluminum feels similar to steel, but it is lighter. These toys have a heft comparable to that of glass. From what I understand, earlier incarnations of the Alumina line have a slightly more matte finish. The Revolve that I have is one of these, and I would compare the feel of it to ceramic, but it’s not spot on. The newer Alumina toys are much glossier in feel and shinier in appearance.
There are three dildos and one plug in the Alumina line. I don’t have the plug (called Pace), but I’ll be giving you a look at the dildos: Flow, Revolve and Motion.
First up – Flow
Flow has the simplest shape of the Alumina toys; it’s kind of like a stylized baseball bat or bowling pin, depending on which way is up. The smaller end of this toy is a little bit boring, in my opinion. It’s very thin, with a circumference under 2.5 inches. If angled correctly it will hit my g-spot, but I have dildos that are much better at this. The larger end of the toy offers a bit more, with a circumference of just under 4.75 inches. It’s definitely a fuller feeling, but still nothing for me to write home about. However, my opinion on this toy changes if you’re looking for something for some anal play. Now, I hate how often the phrase “great for beginners and advanced users” gets thrown around in sex toy reviews…but I kinda want to use it here. I think the Alumina Flow would be especially great for someone who was interested in anal play…someone who can’t yet handle a lot of girth, but would like to get there. The smaller end is small enough not to freak you (or your ass) out. And the bigger end gives you something to work up to. And for advanced anal players who like a bit of variety in the girth of your toys, this one’s for you, too. Two toys, in very different sizes, in one.
Next up – Revolve
Revolve is kinda fun. Vaginally, I’m a fan of the “handle” end…the one with just one round bulb. It works really well to stimulate my g-spot. It doesn’t take a whole lot of effort to make me squirt, but this end of the Revolve does it almost as consistently as the Pure Wand. The other end of the dildo doesn’t impress me as much vaginally. The bulbs are too small, although the largest one does feel nice at my vaginal opening. This end is a ton of fun anally, though. The graduated bulbs make for some nice light thrusting (or probably more vigorous thrusting, if that’s how you roll).
Last, but certainly not least – Motion
Motion is my favorite. Even though the girth of the smaller end is comparable to the small end of Flow, it is approximately 1000 times more amazing. The little arrowhead shaped bulbs are fucking awesome and totally unique. My vagina is a huge fan. And the thicker end? It’s not quite as big around and the larger end of Flow, but it’s still nice and filling. And again, the shape is to die for. Both ends of this dildo are intense in the best way. Anally it’s pretty rad as well. The unique shape of the bulbs provides a sensation that I haven’t been able to duplicate.
Looking for other things to love about the Alumina line? Well, they hold temperature amazingly well. Better than steel or glass or anything I’ve come across. They’re easy to clean and can even be sterilized by boiling (cleaning info here), which means they are safe to share with a partner and to use both anally and vaginally (I should note that there is no flared base on any of these toys, so you should exercise caution using them anally). Oh…and each toy screws apart into two pieces. If you own more than one of them, you can put together any combination of awesome purple dildos you like. I like either end of the Motion attached to the g-spotty end of the Revolve, but you can build your own perfect plaything.
The packaging is also perfect. Thick black cardboard with an outline of the toy on the box in silver, with a nice foam insert to keep your Alumina nice and safe between uses.
The Alumina toys are durable and will last a lifetime with proper care. Their versatility is unmatched. And they are fucking gorgeous.
If you’re still not convinced that you should be lusting after one (or all) of these, go check out Andy’s review of Flow over at Ruffled Sheets (and feel free to read what he has to say about Pace, while you’re at it) and Epiphora’s review of Motion and Revolve.
Then head over to Tantus and start adding pretty purple dildos to your wishlist.

I have the Flow. I wish I liked it as much as others have. That little end is so useless to me though. You’ve sold me on getting at least one of the others to interchange with. I was still debating it after not being blown away with Flow. I’m thinking Revolve might find its way to me soon. The pointy ends of the Motion don’t look so great to me!
